Human activity in Antarctica

Today's lesson involved group work, looking at different human activities in Antarctica: exploration, whaling, sealing, tourism and scientific research.

YOUR TASK:
1. Brainstorm the key questions to answer using the "5 Ws";
2. Use the resources in the shared area (EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS, HUMAN USES), to produce a 2 page report on your topic.

HOMEWORK: To prepare questions for Andrew's visit on Monday. Don't forget what time you are to attend: Year 10 Period 3; Year 9 period 4.

On the topic of whaling, which we looked at last lesson, take a look at this news article: Japanese whalers

In the news on the 19th February was the plight of a Japanese whaling ship, which proves to you doubters that it still goes on! Read more at this BBC web page
